(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On June 2, 2018, at approximately 11:18am, an officer from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol on Kabaigon Bay Road when the officer conducted a traffic stop.
The officer stopped the operator of a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) for an Off Road Vehicle Act violation.
While speaking with the driver, the officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further tests.
A 58 year old male, from Haines Township, was arrested and charged with:
Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
Fail to Wear Proper Helmet contrary to section 19(1) of the Off Road Vehicle Act.
He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on June 19, 2018 to answer to the charges.
