BAIL HEARING OF REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER MICHAEL DANIAL BEWCYK POSTPONED UNTIL DECEMBER DUE TO NEW CRIMINAL CHARGE.
Michael Bewcyk appeared in courtroom 304 at 10am today before Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio.
Bewcyk is a short bespectacled man approximately 5’5″ and is clean shaven. He’s wearing a green/black windbreaker type of jacket and white Vneck style shirt. Also sporting shiny silver handcuffs in the prisoner’s box being watched carefully by TBPS Special Constables.
He requires the use of a courtroom hearing aid and has difficulty putting in on with handcuffs and drops it.
The bail hearing was scheduled to start at 9am but the prisoner’s van from the jail was late arriving at the courthouse.
Lawyer George Joseph is acting as friend of the court and representing BEWCYK. Crown Attorney Gordon Fillmore is also present.
BEWCYCK received another criminal charge of breaching his Prohibition Order 2 days ago.
This is causing a bit of a complication for today’s bail hearing as the defence does not have the disclosure to proceed. Defence lawyer Joseph also feels that this may require more than 1 day for a hearing.
The court goes into recess while His Worship Donio and both attorneys head up to the trial coordinator’s office to set new date.
There will be a Section 517 publication ban on all evidence and reasons given when the bail hearing starts.
His Worship Marcel Donio returns and states a 2 day bail hearing is going to start on December 5,2018 in courtroom 301 at 9am and December 6,2018 in courtroom 103
BEWCYK REMOVES HIS HEADSET AND IS LED OUT OF COURTROOM BY TBPS SPECIAL CONSTABLES.
HE WILL BE RETURNING TO THE THUNDER BAY JAIL
