(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Thunder Bay Police Service responded to a call about a gun being found in a south side residence this evening.
A cleaning lady was tidying up the basement of a rental building when she moved some carpet that hadn’t been moved since the building was purchased years ago, and found an old gun.
Police and the owner of the building were called to come to the scene and sort this out.
Two Thunder Bay Police Service cruisers responded to the scene, and upon inspection of the gun it was determined it was from the world war 1 or world war 2 era.
Polce struggled to unload the gun, as it was heavily rusted and deteriorated. The gun had to be unloaded for transport.
The gun was found rusty and in need of some attention to restore it. Police seized the weapon and took it back to the police station.
Building owner Mike Dang Pham said the discovery made him feel more connected to the veterans of the past for this upcoming Remembrance Day
”…like discovering a piece of the past” Pham added.
Below are some more photos of the antique gun.
