(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Officers with the Joint Task Force arrested five people and seized illicit drugs with an estimated street value of more than $55,000 following a Thursday evening search of a north-side residence.

As the result of an ongoing investigation, officers obtained and executed a warrant to search a residence in the 100 block of Cumberland Street South just before midnight on Thursday, Aug. 22.

Five people were inside the residence at the time of the search. Meanwhile, an officer observed one of the male occupants of the residence throwing items from the balcony outside. Those items, believed to be cocaine and crack cocaine, were located and seized by police.

The drugs seized had a combined estimated street value of nearly $58,000. Police also seized paraphernalia consistent with trafficking and about $4,000 CAD.

Kudzai NYEMBE-MAFOHLA, 22, of Toronto is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, and Obstruct Peace Officer.

Donald Arthur GREEN, 48, of Thunder Bay is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

Stephanie Lynne HORTON (pictured below), 44, of Thunder Bay is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

Arielle Angela RITCH (pictured below), 27, of Thunder Bay is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

A 36-year-old Thunder Bay man is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

The four named accused individuals appeared in court Friday and have been remanded into custody with a future appearance date. A fifth accused was released on an undertaking with a promise to appear and future court date.

This investigation is part of an ongoing specialized joint force operation that includes resources and members from the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, OPP, Nishnawbe Aski Police Service and Anishinabek Police Service.
