A REAL Concerned Citizen reported that this morning their home was broken into while they were home.
The suspects gained access to the home, and quickly removed a duffel bag and searched through it in the front yard. It was at this point that the residents dialled 911 while one of their roommates held down the would-be robber. Shortly after, Thunder Bay Police Service officers arrived and arrested one of the suspects.
“Early this morning at about 5:30 my house was broken into by 2 or 3 men. We live on Churchill Drive West and myself, my boyfriend and our two roommates were all home at the time.
My boyfriend had originally thought it was one of our roommates up downstairs but when he heard people outside he looked out our window and seen two men going through his duffel bag that was left in our living room. He woke me up and told me to call 911.
At this point our roommate who was also upstairs woke up and they raced downstairs and chased the thieves. My boyfriend and his friend caught one of the men who was yelling for his friend “RJ” to help him. They held him in place and waited for the cops to show up which was very quick.
Huge thank you/shout out to the Thunder Bay police who made it to my house within minutes. We later found my purse along with my roommates backpack dumped and scattered on a neighbours lawn a couple doors down.
Just want to remind people to lock their doors, these thieves usually go through cars but it looks like they aren’t afraid to check houses too. Thankfully I wasn’t home alone or have children. Once again huge thumbs up to the Thunder Bay Police for their service.” – Lauren Haskell
