(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Thunder Bay Police Service have investigated the fire at 6 Trillium Way and as a result, have charged a 48-year-old woman.
The investigation by the Criminal Investigation Branch saw the woman taken into custody and charged criminally.
The woman is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning, and will be facing at least these charges:
- Causing death by criminal negligence
- Causing bodily harm by criminal negligence
The fire broke out Monday morning, and fire crews were on scene around 1:00 am after multiple people had called 911 to report the smoke and flames.
A witness close to the scene told TRCCTB.COM that the fire had engulfed the main floor, which included the kitchen and living room.
A woman jumped from the second story rear window, landing on the stairs to the back door. Paramedics immediately assisted her and she was taken to the hospital for further care.
Once Thunder Bay Fire Rescue extinguished the fire in on the main floor, they discovered the body of a male deceased upstairs.
The investigation continues.
