(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The new store in town, Marshalls, is set to open on October 15th in the old Sears location inside the Intercity Shopping Centre.
Marshalls claims to sell items from 20 to 60 per cent cheaper than other retailers, whether they be online or brick and mortar.
The chain started in 1956 and has grown to over 1,100 stores to date. They originally operated in the USA, but as of 2011, are now in Canada.
The store should be able to breathe some life back into the mall, which has seen a number of stores shutter their doors as of late. Marshalls has signs that indicate they are still hiring.
With the majority of shoppers browsing online for their needs, do brick and mortar stores stand a chance? Time will tell.
