(THUNDER BAY, ON) – In a Facebook post, the local LUSH Cosmetics shop in the Intercity Shopping Centre has announced they are closing their doors after over a decade in Thunder Bay.
January 27th is the scheduled day for the shop to end serving customers in the mall after their 12 year run. The store will be open at its regular business hours between now and then.
Numerous customers posted their comments on the post expressing their displeasure with the popular store closing down.
Lori Seguin posted “Not happy at all”.
Deborah Von Shaw said in a comment “Time to write head office people. Tell them to open another store in Thunder Bay. The rent is probably too high in intercity. Should rent a shop in down town Port Arthur or somewhere it’s cheaper.”
Andrea Jacobsen commented “Soooooo not happy about this, not just for me but for all the awesome staff working there.”
Emilie Cation says “This is so stupid, its not like you guys ever struggled! This is where I get my shampoo and body wash because it’s environmentally friendly and I have sensitive skin. Now where am I supposed to get my hygiene products???” To which the LUSH Cosmetics Thunder Bay Facebook page responded “Hi Emilie, Fortunately you can still buy online from us!”
Numerous small businesses have been closing their doors in Thunder Bay recently. This closure comes after the fall of Sears nationwide, where the Intercity Shopping Centre lost one of it’s anchor stores. A section of the vacant Sears lot is supposed to have a Marshall’s move in.
LUSH has not given an official reason for why they chose to close this location. Photo from Facebook.
