(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Another Mac’s robbery occurred overnight last night, this time severe violence unfolded. This article will be updated as more information becomes available.

A Mac’s official informed TRCCTB.COM that the Junot and Red River location was robbed last night, but the main difference is that the employee had his throat cut during the altercation. We have been told that the employee was dragged around during the situation.

The victim is in hospital, and their life is not in jeopardy, but may require time off work to heal from their injuries.


**** UPDATE May 23 2018: A source that is closely connected to a Mac’s employee at this location has informed TRCCTB.COM that the victim has received 7 stitches for their injury.

***UPDATE May 23 2018 @ 9:01 pm: A confidential source has told TRCCTB.COM that the male suspect, 21 years of age, stumbled into Mac’s mart after consuming a significant amount of alcohol. The male is believed to have just arrived in town from his reserve within the couple days before this incident. Our source tells us that the male came into the store with a broken glass bottle, presumed to be a beer bottle, and had threatened the clerk. The clerk refused to allow the male to rob the store, and defended themselves from the attacker. The two males struggled and the clerk was cut significantly in the neck and ear area. The scuffle ensued and the clerk was dragged outside and down, Picton.

UPDATE 2 May 23 2018 @ 9:01 pm: A confidential source informed TRCCTB.COM that Thunder Bay Police Service have raided a home/truck in the 100 block of Picton around 3:20 pm today in relation to this incident. 3 Thunder Bay Police Service marked cruisers and 3 undercover police vehicles were involved. It is believed this is when Hardy was taken into custody. Inital eyewitness reports believed a woman had been taken into custody.

A person who wishes to remain anonymous told TRCCTB.COM that a broken glass bottle was the weapon used.

Now we wait for Thunder Bay Police Service to share the video surveillance, so that we may all pool our chances of identifying the suspect.

Patrol officers attended a Blucher Street address to assist a male who had been injured in a robbery around 12:30 a.m. on May 23, 2018.

A male enter the Macs Convenience Store on Red River Road just after midnight and used a weapon to demand money from the 23 year old male employee. The employee was then led out of the store to the Picton Street area.


The employee was threatened and injured during an altercation with the male before he was able to run away and receive assistance from a citizen who provided first aid and called police. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital for medical attention and has been released.

The suspect is described as an Indigenous male in his early 20’s. He has a thin build with short dark hair. He was wearing a red Air Jordan baseball cap on backwards and a black Toronto Raptures basketball jersey with the # 4 and “Bosh” on the back of the shirt.

He was also wearing red footwear and ripped jeans.
