(THUNDER BAY, ON) – An early morning fire that claimed the life of one person was the reality in Academy early this morning.
The fire had a response from the Thunder Bay Fire Rescue around 1:00 am Monday morning.
A witness on the scene contacted us, and told us that they were the first person to notice the fire, and was yelling into the building for the people to come out.
Upon fire crews arrival, they saw smoke coming out of the structure and flames raging on the main floor.
One person had jumped from the second floor rear window, landing on the stairs and then had immediate care from waiting paramedics. She was transported to hospital.
One fatality has been confirmed by the Thunder Bay Police Service.
The Fire Marshal’s office is scheduled to be investigating the fire.
