(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On July 15, 2018, at approximately 1:14pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Shuniah Fire and Emergency Services, Pass Lake Fire Department and Superior North Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a collision that occurred on Highway 11/17 in the Municipality of Shuniah.
A pick-up truck drove onto Highway 11/17, departing from the driveway of a local business in Pass Lake.
The truck collided with a passenger van that was west bound on Highway 11/17.
The male driver of the van was transported to hospital by air ambulance. He sustained non-life threatening injuries. Four occupants of the van were transported to hospital by land ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The four occupants of the truck did not sustain injuries.
The 18 year old male driver of the truck was charged with Fail to Yield from Private Driveway contrary to section 139(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
