(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at approximately 9:11 a.m., a black passenger vehicle failed to stop at Pigeon River Canada Customs Border Crossing.
Members of the Thunder Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located the vehicle on Highway 61 and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle stopped, the male left his vehicle and was subsequently apprehended.
There were no injuries during the incident and Highway 61 remains closed at this time.
Forensic Identification Services and North West Region Crime Unit are involved in the investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.
Multiple REAL Concerned Citizens have reported to us that there is a police blockade on Highway 61, southwest of Thunder Bay.
Initial eyewitness accounts tell us that the Canada Border Services Agency, Ontario Provincial Police and a K-9 unit have the area swarmed, with at least one vehicle of interest.
A source at the border has told us that someone caused an incident at the border, which sparked the heavy police and border services presence.
*** UPDATE: 11:40 am The Police barricade has been moved to close off more area. It is no longer at Boundary Drive.
OUR SPECULATION: After assessing all of the information we have gathered, we believe a manhunt is happening.
