(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A north side home has had a significant police presence along with multiple other agencies since Sunday, according to residents in the area.
TRCCTB.COM was tipped off to the scene this morning and dispatched to investigate the situation. A couple residents in the area told us what they have noticed.
The home in question is a rental unit. The previous tenants did a “midnight move” in late June. A “midnight move” is when tenants move out of the unit under the cover of darkness. UPDATE: The previous tenants say they did not do a “midnight move”, and actually had help from the landlord moving.
Shortly after the previous tenants moved out, roughly 6 what appeared to be students took over the residence. They were spotted planting flowers in the yard and otherwise normal student activities. On Sunday, that all changed.
Officers from the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to the home on Sunday which sent the roughly 6 students scattering in all directions, according to a resident who witnessed the situation. Our source is uncertain if any of the students were apprehended by police.
Since then, the Thunder Bay Police Service has had a steady presence at the home. Also, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit was spotted on location along with the Thunder Bay Fire Rescue investigation unit and a white SUV that only bears the “Ontario” logo on the side of it.
Neighbours are perplexed about what happened in the home. Today, the Thunder Bay Police Service Forensics Unit was on location with numerous investigators working on location.
This is a developing story and we will update you as more information becomes available. Anyone with tips are urged to text them to 807-355-8917 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or message us on Facebook.
