(THUNDER BAY, ON) – About a month, an excavator was destroyed by a fury of fire, likely set by someone with malicious intent. The incident occurred at a Taranis gravel pit on Virolainen Road in Gorham Township, near trout lake.
There have been no arrests made regarding the incident, despite intense efforts by the Ontario Provincial Police. Anyone with any information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect will receive up to $5000.
The owners are expecting to take a loss on the insurance payout, due to the machine being aged well. The 2008 Caterpillar excavator is valued at around $150,000.
