(THUNDER BAY, ONT) – The TRCCTB Clean Up Crew, headed by Ashlee Dawn has put in time yet again to help clean up another area of town, this time the area in behind the Landmark Inn was targeted, along with a nearby walking trail that leads to County Boulevard.
The event saw 6 people attend, and gather 15 garbage bags worth of waste found around the area along with half a large sharps container worth of needles during the two hour clean up, according to Ashlee Dawn, Clean Up Crew organizer.
“One of our members spotted a bag right beside the trail half buried in the dirt. This shopping bag was filled with needles and drug paraphernalia.” explains Dawn
“We properly disposed of these, however, this is a REAL Concern for the public’s safety in this busy pedestrian traffic area, which includes adults and children.”
“Every cleanup we do is a cold hard reminder of the crisis we are facing in this city. Something has to be done. We got lots cleaned up but there’s still more to do so we plan to return for a Part 2 clean-up this week.” Dawn urges.
Dawn gives thanks and appreciation to those that came out, “Big thank you to those who volunteered their time to help out, Jeremy, Nicole Berubi, Rebecca Gillard, Melissa McMahon and Eric ♻??”.
“Special shout out to little Rebecca for all her hard work and excellent scoping skills!” Dawn says as a final remark.
This Clean Up was sponsored by The City of Thunder Bay and Trixxx. If you or your company would like to sponsor an event, please contact Ashlee Dawn or Pino Demasi. Monetary donations are not accepted, we only need certain cleaning supplies and tools which are available at most dollar stores.
