(PEARL, ON) – We have an update to the collision that happened north of Thunder Bay near Pearl.
A resident in the area believes a transport rear ended a vehicle that was attempting a turn. That vehicle was then sent into oncoming traffic and collided with a pickup truck. This information has not yet been confirmed by police.
An SUV is on its roof, a pickup truck is in the ditch with substantial damage to its front end and a transport sustained damage to its front end.
Traffic has started to move around the crash scene. OPP, Shuniah Fire and Emergency Services, Superior North EMS as well as the MTO are on scene sorting out the situation.
Fatalities are likely yet not confirmed. Serious injuries are expected. Blankets are strung up, blocking view of the vehicles.

On August 19, 2019 at approximately 6:05 pm officers from the Thunder Bay and Nipigon Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a multi vehicle collision on Highway 11/17, near Pearl, ON (East of Thunder Bay).
The Highway is expected to be closed for an undetermined period of time between Superior Shores and 5th Road (12 km East of the Flying J truck stop).
Fire Services, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Ministry of Transportation are on scene to assist.
The Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) unit is on scene to conduct their investigation. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
